CiDi Games, a Pi Network Ventures portfolio company, launched their beta app in the Pi Browser!
This brought Pioneers 10 instant-access games along with skill-based tournaments, platform progression through CiDiScore, the Pi ELF companion experience, Elf Continent, and developer infrastructure for Pi-integrated games.
In less than one week after the beta launch, CiDi Games independently attracted over 81,000 Pioneers across 160+ regions and 1.2 million game sessions organically, demonstrating how the Pi Platform can help utility-focused apps reach real users, drive engagement, and monetization, which in turn expands utility across the Pi ecosystem.

Big kudos to Mainnet Node operators for upgrading to v23.
Most major Nodes have now been upgraded, and the protocol is expected to move to v23 soon.
This was one of the most challenging upgrades to date, as it involved multiple subsystem upgrades and optimizations that required internal data reprocessing.
Protocol 22 -> 23, Ubuntu 20 -> 24, PostgreSQL 12 -> 16
AI companies can access Pi’s human input infrastructure through the network’s over 18 million identity-verified Pioneers to improve models, tune inference quality, and scale data labeling and evaluation.

To complete first or second migrations, Pioneers must set up Pi Wallet two-factor authentication (2FA) through Step 3 of the Mainnet Checklist.
This step is required to further strengthen account and wallet security before real Pi is transferred, an irreversible and immutable blockchain transaction.
To complete 2FA, Pioneers may need to add a trusted email address if one has not been set up yet.
Over 119,000 Pioneers have completed second migrations of their transferable balances so far, as the gradual rollout continues.

All major Pi nodes have now been upgraded to version 20.2 and are supporting protocol 20. Pi has also completed the upgrade of its Mainnet blockchain to protocol 20.
Protocol 20 provides the foundation to enable smart contract capabilities, and the rollout of smart contracts will occur gradually, prioritizing categories that align with utility-based product innovation and operations. The specific types of smart contracts featured will depend heavily on the needs arising from the utility creation process.

Pi released a deep-dive case study into the recent proof-of-concept project for a new Pi Node utility that supports decentralized AI training and computing tasks for third-parties using the spare computing capacity of over 421,000 Pi Nodes. In collaboration with OpenMind, a robotics startup invested in by Pi Network Ventures, this project showed that Pi Nodes can process AI-relevant workloads and return useful results quickly. This work is part of and provides insights for the general initiative to integrate Pi into AI infrastructure itself, utilizing distributed computing and enabling authentic human input for AI training, inference, and reinforcement learning. https://t.co/ruh6Z7Qyl0
Pi App Studio now supports in-app payment integration—initially using Test-Pi—which helps enable App Studio apps to contribute to Pi’s utility through integrating Pi payments in their app experiences.

Pioneers can now deploy their app iterations in Pi App Studio without having to pay Pi, by watching ads. This option enables more Pioneers—especially those who are not yet Mainnet-migrated and are unable to pay Pi—to experiment, learn, and create apps without being limited by migration status or Pi balance.

Integrating Pi payments in an app normally requires time and technical expertise from developers. Pi App Studio turned the complexity of payments integration into simple, non-technical and interactive steps in its app creation workflows for creators, enabling them to benefit from Pi payments integration just like developers can.
This marks an important step toward not only enabling non-technical people to create and own functional apps, but also generating creator monetization incentives and fostering sustainable business models for App Studio apps.

Nearly 2.5 million Pioneers in certain regions are unblocked by a new technical update to migrate to Mainnet, if they’ve completed the Mainnet Checklist and are active in mining. Over 700,000 additional accounts can also soon submit KYC applications! With these updates, more people are able to participate in the Mainnet ecosystem. Pi has reached 16 million Mainnet migrated Pioneers overall, distinguishing Pi as a massive identity-verified blockchain. Complete your KYC and Mainnet Checklist steps as needed to ensure your account is prepared for next steps.

KYC validator rewards distribution continues to make progress in line with the previously announced timeline! Its design was finalized, implementation was completed, and currently the work is being tested. Testing is incredibly important, as it affects the distribution of Pi payments to KYC validators for their work in the KYC process of millions of Pioneers. The target remains deployment by the end of this quarter (March 2026).
Important reminder for Nodes: The Pi Mainnet blockchain protocol is currently undergoing a series of upgrades. The deadline for the first upgrade step is February 15. All Mainnet nodes must complete this step to remain connected to the network. More information is available here https://t.co/CLj4LbGN25
Network Update: Protocol v19.6 migration successfully completed ✅ Next up is v19.9 — the final step before v20. Node operators should make sure they’re upgraded and stay tuned for further instructions: https://t.co/mnbwVzhaD9
