Experts warn the killing could intensify political violence in the U.S., citing a surge in politically motivated attacks—about 150 in the first six months of this year, nearly double the same period last year. “This could serve as a flashpoint inspiring more unrest,” said Mike Jensen, a University of Maryland researcher. Political violence has increasingly included attacks without clear ideology, according to Jon Lewis of George Washington University.

Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was known for mobilizing young Americans in Trump’s MAGA base. He was known for his “prove me wrong” debates on abortion, transgender rights and even advocated for “some gun deaths to protect our other God-given rights”. Recent months have seen multiple politically motivated attacks across America, raising concerns among experts about a “vicious spiral” of retaliatory violence.
