Sunday Sermon checklist
[ ] Am I generous of my possessions
[ ] Do I care about those in need
[ ] Do I give to the Lord spiritually
Are we creating spaces and time for our community to find and follow Jesus. Are we ok feeling uncomfortable in order to create lasting impact.
I had a strange dream where each state drivetime (from one end to the other) had a respective orchestral score to match its vibe played by its state’s symphony orchestra.
Because the goal of supervision has never been just reviewing paperwork, although that’s a major crucial component.
It’s cultivating clinicians who can think ethically, write truthfully, and practice with heart — We are scaffolding competent autonomy.
#counseling#LPC
When we guide clinicians to write with empathy, accuracy, and ethical clarity, we’re doing more than improving documentation — we’re nurturing clinical voice, professional accountability, and integrity.

Supervision should never feel like auditing; it should feel like story stewardship.
Our supervisees are learning to tell the story of healing through their words — and our job is to ensure that story honors both the client and the clinician.

A clinician’s progress note is more than a record; it’s a window into their reasoning, their empathy, their blind spots, and their ethical compass.
#counseling#LPC
As licensure supervisors, we often learn more about a clinician’s thinking from their documentation than from any live observation. Progress notes show us not just what they did — but how they conceptualized, connected, and cared.

The church is to Follow Jesus/Mature in the Word/Serve people/ Grow in love.
How are you doing these things. What are your individual gifts? What are your spiritual gifts. Better yet what is your identity in Christ?

Mental health has become so overly controlled. “Regulated benevolence.”
You’re allowed to help… but only if you’ve filled out the right paperwork, paid the right fee, and sworn loyalty to the right state board.
Waiting for the “compact contract” has been maddening
In DBT there is a foundational understanding that two seemingly contradictory concepts can coexist and be true at the same time. This is called an Antinomy. Same in theology (the absolute sovereignty of God / Human free will). Paradox.
Around the same time we solidify our prefrontal cortex (22-24), we also begin to grow out of our “personal fable” mentality. We realize the universe doesn’t revolve around just our story. We grow communal and humble as part of our larger collective.
The larger concept of Love
The more we push away from humanity, the more of a scarcity humanity becomes, in turn leading us back to it.
Similarly our spiritual self, the more we turn away, the more we ultimately desire it to make us whole.
“I hate you, don’t leave me” this is a common dynamic in unhealthy attachment styles. Unfortunately sometimes attachment styles become society styles. We are a microcosm of the larger story.
How do we navigate attachment styles? We strive for unconscious natural security.
I ask for wisdom, but I seek knowledge. When I’m granted lessons of wisdom in life, I grow angry of the turmoil it brings.
I fail daily, but yet I don’t sit in that forever
Void is not nothing. It is something we don’t yet understand. With this mentality, fear dissipates. Confusion fades. Anticipation becomes more defined.
