All the time, the Sky 6 clubs revenue is still growing, so closing the gap is almost impossible. Once your playing in UEFA competition like Sunderland are this year, You need to stay compliant by UEFA standards which are way stricter than the Premier League, For instance, the Squad Cost Ratio is reduced from 85% to 70%. You are also monitored on your spending over a 3 year rolling period. I think its around 60 million in losses aloud over the 3 year window. This was 105 million by premier league rules. To meet these restrictions, you will need to sell top players and re-invest in youth. So its not a lack of ambition, It's having to change our ways to play within the rules.
