In terms of throwing pitches in the zone, Vanderbilt was 253rd in the country last year, Mississippi State was 262nd.

Vanderbilt threw the 25th most pitches down the middle, State was 9th. You prevent runs in college with good stuff, not by “just throwing strikes” or control.
