🌟✨Yesterday the last 2 chicks fledged.
An extraordinary year. Brilliant result from the efforts of so many farmers, land owners, field workers, volunteers, gamekeepers, donors and the local communities. A fantastic outcome for our curlew population. Many thanks to all. 🙏🙏

@leeinthelakes If you can find out the origin of Whale as a place name I would be very interested. I met a family with the surname Whale outside the farm once taking photos of the sign. But they had no idea either!
With @DefraGovUK announcement that some options will be capped
“food production remains the primary focus of farming”
🤦🏼♂️ of course this is the case
What we require is a #landUseFramework that let’s us understand how we balance #food#Nature#Energy#Housing
Swifts are as old as the Rocky Mountains, evolving 7 epochs ago. For 60 million years they've reigned the skies. Each year they fly for 6,500 hours nonstop yet when they come home they come home to us. That's why EVERYONE is asking YOU to save them @michaelgove🪶
Our new research finds that spot-on flea treatments on pets are a major source of river contamination with potent insecticides. Also, owners hands are continually contaminated by contact with treated pets. Pls RT (1/2)

If you haven’t yet signed, please add your name to the over 2500 who have already joined me in calling for greater access to higher tier schemes once again. They really are vital for upland and marginal farms, and small diverse farms.
Thank you 😊

Had a site visit today with the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust who showed me around their newtake at Bellever - the site of the pony and salt lick trial. Apparently before the ponies arrived the newtake was dominated by Molinia - now not so much! The salt licks encourage the ponies into the area and they then graze the Molinia allowing the suffocated heather to expand. #Dartmoor
