If a white boy had a masters at 23 and was the youngest ever to give a Harvard lecture AND THEN WON FINALS MVP
it’d be a 30 for 30 on em and he’d be Bill Simmons favorite player
Almost a decade ago I said on here the league is going to 3 profiles:
-The kid from a household where Mom or Dad played a sport at college level or higher
-The kid whose parents have a combined income north of $175k. They can afford to allocate 10k to his sport.
-💶🌍🇦🇺🇪🇸🇩🇪🇫🇷
The biggest knock on Kobe is that he wasn’t efficient. It’s flawed reasoning when factoring that there’s no data that proves efficiency leads to winning. Especially in the 2000s.
Dirk shot 42%FG in the finals against the Heat. He’s celebrated.
Kobe shot 41%FG in the Finals against the Celtics. They say he was horrible.
Brunson just won the finals and FMVP on 42%FG efficiency. He’s regarded as a superhero.
THE SO PROTECTED P.R. BULLET PROOF LEGACY of Tim Duncan shot an impressive 42%FG at CENTER and won FMVP in 2005
Last year SGA shot 44%FG and 24%3PT for the final and won FMVP and was glazed all year and back to back MVP.
Paul Pierce won 2008 FMVP, a 43%FG
Jaylon Brown, 44FG% as the FMVP in 2024
MICHAEL JORDAN in 1998, FMVP at 43%FG, he again shot 42%FG in 1996 as the FMVP.
Efficiency is the most overrated stat in the sport.
