Can confirm that running an election campaign while 5 months pregnant is significantly easier than running one with an 8 month old baby. I will say this: Mums involved in politics are hard workers 💪
NEW - we've data showing huge numbers of people reducing their income to avoid high marginal income tax rates. Not just at the £100k point (as previously reported). But at the £50k point:
⚠️ The fire at the Material Recycling Facility (MRF) in L'head yesterday evening has been successfully resolved. Partner agencies are working to assess the impact. All waste collections continue as planned today and the L'head Community Recycling Centre remains open as normal. ✅
@DanNeidle is right. Campaigning for a wealth tax is somewhere between displacement activity and virtue signalling. There are so many things we could change and need to change in the tax system. But they would take a little more thought and a little more bravery.
I’m tax obsessed. Please please say Ms Rayner got some Capital Gains Tax advice at the same time as SDLT, because putting a house in a trust is *almost certainly* a disposal
I’m devastated by the decision taken by Parliament this evening. I truly hope I’m wrong on this, because if I’m not, many vulnerable women and third trimester babies will be harmed.
We want to know of any issues in the district’s parks and open spaces we are responsible for maintaining. That could be a fallen tree or playground equipment that may need tending to. 🛝 It is quick and easy to bring it to our attention 👉 https://t.co/bt12EBz6Bx ✅ #ProudofMV.

Why not pull the lever of banning smartphones to under 16s?
We have been campaigning for restriction of the internet for children for YEARS!
It is simple: support the parents: ban the phones.
Rebecca Paul quotes written evidence and asks why are we as a society happy to rely on charity shops selling second-hand clothes to fund palliative care whilst assisted dying will be fully funded by the NHS? Funding disparities undermine it being a fair choice.
As we've highlighted many times @TheIFS, the tax system has a damaging cliff edge at £100k. For some people with kids in nursery, earning an extra £1 can make you over £20,000 worse off!

Good to see the plight of young males getting its occasional moment.
So much of the chat is about toxic online influencers - it is undoubtedly relevant - but the bigger outcome on a boys life is education.
Lads have been falling behind academically for years, white working class boys more than most.
Yet media discussion largely stays in its safe space of discussing other media.
Last year we launched WorkWell to support people back to work. Excellent article here describing how it’s working in Yorkshire ⬇️
