Making a return to Twitter to share some great news from #Raleigh: #ebike vouchers coming this community's way 🙌 More details below ⬇️https://t.co/6r3oeZ61Vr #urbanplanning#Transportation
@YouGoBike @the_transit_guy It’s the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry 🙌 also hi @YouGoBike! Fellow @OaksAndSpokes board members unite 🫡
@ReyHSosa They actually do this in #TDM Districts like Boulder Junctions Access District, Boulder Central, and University Hill! ⬇️

Good news for @RaleighTranspo’s Ral-E-Bike pilot voucher program. Can’t wait to see what statistics are generated from our program comparatively! #Transportation#ebikes
New study of e-bike rebates finds that the average recipient reduced their CO₂ emissions by 12-44 kg/month. That's roughly equivalent to 30-110 miles/month of driving.
Not too shabby!

THREAD:
Planning a trip to the beach tomorrow and was thinking about the last time I was in #MoreheadCity and how easy it would be to make a first and final mile connection to #AtlanticBeach by bike if #NCByTrain were there #TripPlanning#NCDOT
@core2idiot You’re correct, but now with current funding breakdowns at the state level, it’s pretty much darn near impossible to pull this off. Here’s a graphic that explains current STI law better
@core2idiot Yes! Lots of plans. The problem with some of these routes though is that comparatively to highway funds, rail is a significantly smaller subset, and heavily rely on federal grants. So it may end up taking longer than anticipated in plans unless we change structural systems.
@Amtrak Not to mention, there are people like @jay_biblio whom I’m sure would love to get to this beach, but can not drive due to physical ability. While acquiring right-of-way from corporations like CXS and BNSF, it can have large payoffs for economic development and mobility freedom.
@Amtrak From Morehead City’s Train Station I’d hop off with my bike and bike to the beach. Instead of sitting in a car for hours for leisure, I’d much rather sit on a bus, or in a train car (as I’m sure would most).
Harris Teeter dominates the Raleigh market, right?
Not so fast. They have 0(!) stores within the market East of US-1. East of US 1 also happens to be where most of Raleigh’s Black and Hispanic populations live.
My challenges to practitioners today:
1️⃣Be intentional about the #communityengagement you do on a project
2️⃣ Don’t just document to check boxes. Challenge #design standards, impacts, and the people in decision making powers
3️⃣Own up to what harm your industry has done
In honor of #Juneteenth I wanted to share @selc_org’s video featuring #Charlotte’s West End and the Phillips Community near #MountPleasant. Transportation decisions have historically impacted black and brown communities exponentially. We have the power to change that #strongtowns
