It's staggering how many replies in my original post said that the director of the new Rey movie made the "men uncomfortable" remark about the next Star Wars film.

She didn't. It was 8 years ago, in jest, about a totally different film.

Like I said: faux outrage.

People being "concerned" about a director of a new tint-pole movie "Only/mostly done documentaries" clearly don't understand directing or the film industry. Male directors get their breaks from commercials & music videos. Women from TV & Docs. It's not a legitimate critic.

My son is ecstatic for the next Star Wars film. My dad is excited too, as are my guy friends.

Having a protagonist who happens to be a woman & a director who is too does not mean that SW doesn't want male fans; Star Wars is for everyone.

@WeekesPrincess But I guess our culture just doesn't appreciate the romance & hotness of a perfectly timed hug. I use to think it was perfectly sweet and beautiful, but suppose the main stream audience needs it to be a kiss to understand that when a man & woman hug it isn't just sibling vibes.

@WeekesPrincess I LOVE TLJ, the satisfaction of having the two leads from the first movie having to go on separate adventures to grow as individuals before being reunited, that freaking hug when they're reunited is so powerful! And then Rey door slams Kylo in the end!

@isabellaamidala I use to watch Junkman and thought he was decent even when I disagreed with him. Even though I stopped watching him a while back because he was playing into the "edgy troll" trope and I don't believe in feeding trolls I didn't think he'd go that far. Despicable.
