Hey #YangGang, times are tough and I'm trying to do my part to help people get through this crisis. #HumanityFirst I'm doing a Homework HELP! youtube channel for math, chemistry, and physics. Send me your problems and I'll do a step by step video. https://t.co/EwFPgbllc7
For far too long, jobs have been equated with meaningful work. We must decouple income from work, and in doing so liberate work from employment.
It's only through an unconditional basic income that our best and most meaningful work (paid or unpaid) will be supported and enabled.
And the evidence for #BasicIncome just keeps on piling up as the many pilot projects around the country release their reports. This data is from Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, the neighborhood where Dr. King grew up, where hundreds of Black women are being provided $850 a month for two years.
Preliminary results using the first 6 months of data from 308 respondents:
• Full-time employment increased 15%
• Unemployment decreased 21%
• Nearly 40% increase in educational enrollment
• 7% used the cash to start or grow a small business
• Average debt decreased 4%
• Mean savings increased 38%
• Financial well-being scores increased 6.4%
• Improvements in both physical and mental health
• More women got health insurance (69% to 74%)
• Decreased usage of TANF, SNAP, WIC, and other public assistance programs
Qualitative quotes:
• "Before I got on the program, I just didn't see a way out, I was just literally in a box just trying to figure out what was I to do. It just took a lot of the stress that I had on me, off me, and it makes it easier for me to strive for more."
• "I still have that same goal of starting a business. It's just now I can actually execute my plan because I have a car and a home."
• "I was able to pull myself out of debt and pay my bills."
• "Now that I can afford childcare, my daughter is getting an education."
• "I'm happier. Whereas at first, I thought I was just going to fall into a deep depression, but my spirits have been uplifted, and I'm just really happy to be where I am right now."
• “I work in the Fourth Ward, so it's like the Fourth Ward is giving back to me, but at the same time, I'm giving back to the same community.”

As if we needed more evidence for #BasicIncome, here's more, this time from the Denver Basic Income Project (@denverbip) providing cash to hundreds of unhoused people for one year.
Preliminary results using the first 6 months of data:
• NO ONE receiving $1,000/mo still sleeping outside
• Full-time employment increased
• Fewer visits to the emergency room
• Fewer nights spent in jail
• Reduced feelings of distress and anxiety
• Feel safer and more welcome where they sleep
• Greater sense of hope

House Republicans want to cut spending on those with low incomes, but that's the spending that has the most bang for the buck. It's tax expenditures for the rich that make far more sense to cut, because our economy is based mostly on consumer spending.
$111,759 per bed.
Meanwhile:
Providing $500 a month for 6 months in SF housed two-thirds of participants in the @MiracleMessages basic income program.
Providing $7500 to homeless people in Vancouver saved $8100 per person in shelter costs and was more effective at reducing homelessness.
Providing basic income to the homeless in Denver in @denverbip has also seen similar success. As founder @markpdonovan has said, "Everyone is finding the same thing."

Every since I discovered that the slave masters were given reparations at the close of the civil war, I’ve been in favor of reparations. Rewarding the slave master necessitates rewarding the enslaved.
A post on Facebook can change your life forever .
It’s crazy to think everything started with this post I made in 2015. Even before this even happened I remember asking God to use me as his vessel. He didn't give me an answer the day that I asked him, not a month later , not even a year later. It happened a few years later and this would be that day. I'm still amazed at what all has happened since . Ask God to use you & he will . It might not happen right away, but trust me during that time your waiting he's just preparing you for what's about to happens
@EChomskis@FWD_CA The US has never had UBI. During covid, people were given some money, not regularly, and many could not work because of restrictions.
@amino1music @MileenaUltra So doesn’t that mean that at least some of the people who are doing the cancelling are doing it with the goal of accountability? Not smearing/attacking?
@amino1music @MileenaUltra There is much difference of opinion as to whether it is to hold someone accountable or punish/attack. https://t.co/BEvN0LnVof
@amino1music @MileenaUltra If you have a platform and want to use it to inform/encourage other to join you, I think that is your right as well. I don’t always agree with what people want to cancel/boycott people for but that is their right.
