BREAKING: The House has PASSED the Protecting Our Democracy Act which will BLOCK future presidents from profiting from the presidency, abusing pardons, and will STOP presidents from using the office to enrich themselves.
Retweet if you think this is GREAT news!
JVal48103, no one should be judged for choosing the educational path that they think is best for their children: to name a few: homeschooling, or parochial, Montessori, or military schools. HOWEVER, alternatives to public school should be on the parents’ dime.
I see some hate out there today about homeschooling.
It's not because we have "privilege" that others don't.
It's that we budgeted, reorganized our lives, gave up some luxuries, and focused on our priorities (aka our children and our families).
Congress in general will be better for his absence. I just hope Donald’s new company doesn’t fold before January, so we can watch Nunes go down with the USS Shitship.
@CalltoActivism Non-profits are not supposed to be involved in politics, by law. They can facilitate and encourage people to exercise their right to vote, but they can’t endorse a particular party or candidate. I think churches that sponsor or endorse partisan rallies need to pay taxes.
Read all of them at least once. Read most for the first time in grades 7 through 10. (Also read Valley of the Dolls when it was published in paperback the summer I was 15; I wasn’t harmed by that, either.)
@bios_hazard@BillyM2k Correct! Short-term gambling on the stock market when you’re not an expert? Dummy! Smart but non-expert people let a trusted financial advisor help them manage their money.
Racial gerrymandering violates the core premise of our constitution: that our votes be counted equally no matter our race and ethnicity.
In our elections, every voice must be heard.
Is it possible #OmicronVariant sets us back to square one?
No
We have lots of tests that'll detect Omicron
We have therapies that'll work
Our vaccines MAY take a hit but will still provide some (may be a lot) protection
We are in a MUCH better place
This isn't March 2020
@CeruleanGates Absolutely true. As a society, we must provide education for these and other valuable skills and trades. All work has value. All workers have worth. College is good for what college is good for, but not for everything.
@bios_hazard@representus Info is readily available online on how it’s done. And on why the previous Federal voting rights laws prevented the worst offenders from changing district maps. I recommend the article on redistricting from the National Conference of State Legislatures (https://t.co/JtZ6tG3eb7).
@bios_hazard@representus Wikipedia:
“…maximize the effect of supporters' votes and to minimize the effect of opponents'. ... By "cracking" districts, a political party could maintain, or gain, legislative control by ensuring that the opposing party's voters are not the majority in specific districts.”
@RepBoebert@RepBoebert , you haven’t offended just the Muslim community. You are a walking, breathing, shit-spewing offense to all decent people. PS, on behalf of the aforementioned, fuck your fake apology.
@bios_hazard@representus According to an analysis from the Brennan Center, it would do 3 key things: 1) institute a strong statutory ban on partisan gerrymandering; 2) enhance protections in communities of color; 3) streamlining litigation of gerrymandering cases.
