In our conversations today with minister José Albares @jmalbares discussed our shared objective to protect EU borders, an objective we share in the MFF negotiations as well.

He shared the current facts on the irregular migration situation in Ceuta. It is worrying and serious and Spain acts with clarity while European partners are ready to support.

We express solidarity with the Spanish government and the people of Spain faced with this situation and appreciate the fast decision-making and good dialogue with Morocco.

The ongoing cooperation with Morocco has already led to more than 30.000 returns, a decisive step in addressing this crisis.

As for the fears regarding the impact on the rest of the EU in terms of rules of travel in the Schengen area, including Romania, Ceuta is not part of the Schengen Area and non-residents do not benefit from freedom of movement, ID checks take place in Spain.

We will continue to work collectively for an empathic Europe where solidarity matters, but only within clear rules in terms of border crossing.

We already see images and videos from the crisis that are being spread without context or information as to current solutions that are in place. A potential wave of information manipulation, online and offline disinformation campaigns is building up on fear-mongering regarding the implications of the Ceuta crisis.

I also thanked minister Albares for the recent Spanish deployment of planes and troops în NATO air defence mission în Romania.

A new drone was shot down this morning, at 10:13 a.m., by an F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, over Romania's territorial waters, in the Sulina-Chilia area.

I congratulate the Romanian pilots and the ground teams for the professionalism, courage, and efficiency with which they carry out their missions. Through their actions, they contribute to the defense of the national territory and the safety of Romanian citizens.

According to the investigation conducted by the General Prosecutor's Office, the drone shot down on Friday morning is of the Shahed type, used by the Russian Federation in the war of aggression against Ukraine.
Investigations into the drones shot down yesterday and today are ongoing.

Romania's diplomatic protest against the Russian Federation will be based on these investigations.

It is inadmissible and intolerable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania's airspace, which is, at the same time, NATO airspace and European Union airspace. Such actions are unacceptable, and we treat them with the utmost seriousness, alongside our allies.

Following these repeated violations, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

Velierul simbol al Forțelor Navale Române, alături de cele mai reprezentative veliere ale lumii, a participat la impresionanta paradă a velierelor de la New York - Sail4th 250, organizată cu prilejul aniversării a 250 de ani de la Declararea Independenței Statelor Unite ale Americii.
Zeci de mii de oameni au aplaudat de pe malurile râului Hudson, salutând trecerea navelor, iar seara s-a încheiat sub luminile unui foc de artificii.

La mulți ani, Statele Unite ale Americii!

Romania made Black Sea security a high priority on @NATO’s agenda. Recent weeks proved exactly why.

Today, the North Atlantic Council, the forum where the Alliance addresses its most pressing issues, turned to Black Sea security. I said it clearly: the answer to the growing drone threat is more capabilities. Romania is building them, but Allied support is necessary, because Romania’s security is NATO’s security.

I also briefed Allies on Neptun Deep, a project that will strengthen Romania’s and Europe’s energy security. Robust NATO situational awareness in the Black Sea is essential. At the same time, MCM Black Sea has proven its worth in demining; the next task is protecting critical undersea infrastructure.

The takeaways ahead of the Summit in Ankara: full Allied solidarity with Romania, determination to continue to support us with capabilities and consensus around accelerating all programmes and initiatives on drones.
