@ChemistCraig (4/4) If you want to get any compensation for the classes you teach, you must go to smaller universities, which won’t look so good on your CV. And the endogamy is so prevalent that no one even thinks of changing these ways. Sad times to be in academia...

@ChemistCraig (3/4) ...they try to ingratiate themselves with the supervisor/PI, as it is a safer bet to eventually reach tenure through influence rather than a strong CV. You either get in line and forget any self respect, or you are sidetrakced no matter how much you publish.

@ChemistCraig In PT 30-50% of classes in top universities are taught by researchers without any pay. Like the proverbial donkey chasing the carrot at the end of the stick, researchers chase tenure in such ways. Instead of focusing on quality research...
