🇨🇩 A journalist walked inside an active Ebola ward in DRC's Mongbwalu and found a confirmed death, a sick adult, and a 5-year-old with uncontrolled nosebleeds all sharing the same confined space.
No food for patients, the families bring their own water, and the test results take so long that doctors can't even separate confirmed cases from suspected ones.
DRC has survived more Ebola outbreaks than any country on earth. The virus isn't the only killer here. The system is failing around it.

Security leaders, military officers, and experts gather at the Gako Military Academy for the National Security Symposium aimed at exchanging ideas on national and regional security.
“If M23 is Congolese, how did it become a Rwandan problem or Kagame’s problem? Since M23 are Congolese, it is a Congolese problem, and therefore we need a Congolese solution.
I have never seen citizens with issues against their own government but engage in dialogue to resolve them.”

Putin has approved the construction of a Nuclear Power Plant in Rwanda by Russian state nuclear giant Rosatom. Speaking Thursday at the Congress of the Russian Engineering Union in Moscow, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev confirmed Rwanda among four countries cleared for new nuclear power plant projects. The deal marks a major step in Rwanda’s long-term nuclear energy ambitions. #FactsOnRwanda
📆 While the world's cameras are turned to the inaugural #AfricaForward Summit in Nairobi on 11-12 May, the continent's economic boardroom convenes just 48 hours later. From 14-15 May, six sitting Heads of State gather in Kigali for the Africa CEO Forum 2026, the largest pan-African meeting of presidents, CEOs and investors, where the continent's political leadership and its private sector write the next chapter of African prosperity together.
👤 H.E. @PaulKagame, President of Rwanda and host of the summit, welcomes H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT (Nigeria), H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema (Gabon), H.E. Daniel Chapo (Mozambique), H.E. Mohamed Cheikh Ould El Ghazouani (Mauritania) and H.E. Mamadi Doumbouya (Guinea).
🌍 Six leaders who represent some of the most strategic economies on the continent, all aligned on a single conviction: the future of Africa will be financed, built and owned by Africans, with the private sector as the central engine.
💡 This is what sets ACF apart. Where most international forums frame the continent through the prism of bilateral relations, the Africa CEO Forum convenes 2,000 African and global decision-makers around the issues that will define the next decade: megaprojects and infrastructure, pan-African capitalism, productivity, industrial sovereignty and the acceleration of the AfCFTA. The conversations in Kigali set Africa's own agenda, on Africa's own terms.
📍 Kigali, 14-15 May 2026. The continent's economic centre of gravity.

Very disappointing. Showing a lack of understanding of the root causes of conflict in the Great Lakes region. Presenting no alternative solution to the conflict: Who will protect the people being murdered with genocidal intent? The past and ongoing genocidal activities have been documented by the UN rapporteur and others.
To the young people of #Rwanda, being young is not enough. You cannot afford to waste any opportunity. Do not let the fear of failure or taking risks stand in the way of who you can be. Claim your rightful place in the world, no one will hand it to you
One of my greatest regrets from my time as US AsstSecState for Africa was advocating for US to support Tshisekedi as winner of Congo's 2018 election. I thought he would really be different and advance the Congolese people's interests. How wrong I was!
