If you’ve been following our recent posts, you’ll know we have been highlighting the decision by the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police to refer newly graduated officers to Professional Standards for minor uniform breaches.

Now, why are we posting this image? Because it was shared across the force’s own social media channels, showing the Chief Constable himself on camera with his trouser fly open and wearing a black jacket over his high-vis stab vest.

The force’s Dress and Appearance Standards policy clearly states that high-vis must be the outer garment.

So, did he refer himself to PSD? Probably not.

Do we believe he should be investigated for breaching uniform standards? No. But it does highlight what happens when you use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. All eyes are on you. Every move you make is watched closely, especially by those you lead.

Leadership is about consistency, fairness, and setting the right example from the top.

This is the last we will say on the matter for now until we have heard back from the organisations where we have raised concerns. We will keep you all updated.

A manhunt to trace Abdul Shokoor Ezedi is under way. He is wanted in connection with a corrosive substance attack in Clapham.

If you see Ezedi, call 999 immediately. He should NOT be approached.

Ezedi is believed to have sustained significant injuries to the right side of his face.

We are working with partner agencies and forces including the @BTP to locate and arrest him.

As part of your commitment to being a police officer and a public servant, the least we can do is give you the gift of health and a platform to give you the ability to do your job effectively. Provide every police officer an app that helps them to train with whatever equipment they have available. That app should change around their duty / shift-patterns and around their physical ability and environment. If any of that changes, so should their plan. We could also then provide commanders with an up to date physical status on an officers health, minimising risk and burnout. I could have this live by Friday for every officer in the country..
