More tales from Pluto’s paddock and his terrible retirement life.
We were called by the vet when he was operating on Pluto 3 months ago as the tendon damage was so bad that he wanted to know if he should just not wake Pluto up. We made the right decision as this video shows 🥰
More happy racehorses loving their retirement life! This is Bertie who is another one of my former racehorses. He has managed to injure himself whilst learning to event so is currently in the field for the summer whilst Jo tries to stop him being a dick and reinjuring himself 🤣
After Sara showed Pluto living his best life in retirement, I thought it would be nice to see some of our horses doing the same in their retirement. All are rehomed to homes for life. Not sold. https://t.co/LCmQy9Psec
For everyone who has recently explained to me how awful it is for a racehorse to be retired here is Pluto who was recently retired due to injury (and not sold on!) having a terrible morning in his paddock.
Here is Pluto yesterday - he is recovering really well from his surgery. Huge thanks again to the vets at Valley Equine in Lambourn for saving his life and to @Jodavis9 and all the team for the amazing care he is getting. Building up to 30 min walks very slowly.
This is an excellent recommendation. @Jodavis9’s daily videos on Facebook and insta show the true heart of racing at a small stables where every horse is adored (including by Jo’s 50,000 followers many of whom didn’t approve of racing before joining the common farm family)
Pluto has deservedly had some love on here today. @Jodavis9 has made a lovely video of his recovery so far.
First part features Pluto’s amazing ears and ridiculous facial expressions. In a week when the sport is under scrutiny this shows how much we all love our horses
The reality for small owners:
My horse is in the Stratford bumper tomorrow.I have just calculated that we have spent £55k so far just to get her to run. The prize money is £2.4k, so after expenses essentially nothing. This is why the training credit scheme has infuriated so many
