@MarkAClarkson There is the precedent of John “Babbacombe” Lee who survived three attempted hangings in 1885. He had his sentence commuted and was released from prison and made a living from his celebrity 🔻

@MarkAClarkson Elizabeth Steicke (née Capone) should have known that some matters are better settled out of court 🔻

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

@MarkAClarkson No number of gatekeepers can prevent a determined litigant from reaching the HCA and disturbing their Honours’ peace. In China, Ms Wang would have been admitted into a reeducation camp well before reaching the top court. Here, Ms Wang was led to believe everyone is equal 🔻

@MarkAClarkson Once upon a time, the electricity service fee was virtually unheard of. Now you’re paying $1.80 a day—around $660 a year—before you switch on a single light. The meter may be idle, but the bill never is. The insidious service fee is almost 50% of your bill! 🔻

Wrong, Alexander did not ignore “that part”. His conquests were more nuanced: He preferred to preserve and incorporate than annihilate and replace.

[Historic Vids @historyinmemes]

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

- Aristotle

Aristotle was one of the greatest thinkers to ever live.

384 BC, he was the son of the royal physician to the king and was raised around dissections and court medicine. He left for Athens at 17 and walked into Plato's Academy, where he would stay for the next two decades. He was the school's most gifted student, and grew to be one of its most public dissenters.

His instructor, Plato, taught through interrogation: ask a question, expose the contradiction hiding inside the answer, then ask again. We now call this the “Socratic Method.” It teaches students to LEARN, not just memorize, and it’s still the backbone of law schools, med schools, and universities everywhere on earth today. It's the difference between a philosopher and a scientist, and Aristotle is arguably the first person to fully make that turn.

His training with looking closely produced an incredible list of "firsts”: He dissected chick embryos day by day to document how a heart forms before anything else does. He classified over 500 animal species, correctly grouping whales and dolphins as different from fish 2,000 years before anyone else. He invented formal logic outright; the syllogism, the basic machinery of valid argument, which was taught unchanged in universities for the next two millennia. In his spare time, he concluded the northern landmasses had to be balanced by an undiscovered continent in the south that he named Antarktikos. Nobody would lay eyes on Antarctica for another 2,000 years.

But perhaps his most famous achievement wasn't a discovery, but a pupil: for 8 years, Aristotle taught a boy medicine, ethics, politics, and Homer, reportedly annotating a personal copy of the Iliad for him to carry into battle. He warned him specifically against treating conquered peoples as lesser. The boy ignored that part. He went on to conquer Persia, Egypt, and most of the known world by the age of 25, and died undefeated at 32. History remembers him as Alexander the Great.

@MarkAClarkson Seventeen years is a murder of a sentence. Nothing blurs the line between murder and manslaughter quite like accusing the trial judge of bias. The sentence itself may be an appeal point grounded in actual bias! Clearly, the judge is not a fan of Airbnb 🔻

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

@MarkAClarkson @MarioBojic LOL. Inclusive kennel policy achieved. Now even the non-binary puppers and alphabet-soup therians get their ‘good boy’ treat. Equality means everyone gets the same leash… and the same command to sit. No sexism intended!

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

@MarkAClarkson Police dogs used to mean German Shepherds with a badge.
Now, courtesy of the Human Source Management Act, the kennel’s open to lawyers, judges, journalists, doctors… and the kids. Everyone’s potentially a good boy these days. 🐕🔻

@MarkAClarkson @VictorianLabor Indeed, but Trump has offered such bribes before and never delivered. His favourite form of public spending is the cheque that’s always in the mail. Like holy water, the blessing is made but the miracle never arrives 🔻

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

@MarkAClarkson Trump offers $5,000 bribe to every voter in a desperate attempt to win the midterm election. The US is already in debt to the tune of $40 trillion. What’s another trillion or two on the tab? Only in America 🔻

[Thomas Massie @RepThomasMassie]

I don’t know about you all, but frankly I’m insulted by the notion that my vote this November could be bought for 5k. Not to mention the inflation this would cause. All things considered, I cannot in good conscience accept a penny less than 10k!

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

@MarkAClarkson Indeed. If you get raped, don’t raise your hue and cry to someone like Bob Hawke. The intrinsic nature of the hue and cry is that it must not fall on deaf ears 🔻

@MarkAClarkson LIV golfers said they were “growing the game.” Now LIV is under bankruptcy protection. They chased the green, landed in the red, and discovered the 19th hole is a creditors’ meeting. ⛳️

The Foreign Secretary, Ed Milliband, is also Jewish and Israel is now saying he’s antisemitic 🔻

[Megatron @Megatron_ron]

JUST IN: 🇬🇧🇮🇱🇵🇸 UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband: “Netanyahu is committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians”

“What the Netanyahu government is doing in Gaza is a stain on the conscience of the world, and there is increasing evidence war crimes appear to have been committed.

There is ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in areas of the West Bank, perpetrated by settler terrorists. And too often the Israeli government has turned a blind eye to this. And worse, members of it have made statements and taken actions to support the forced displacement of Palestinians.

We will not stand by.”

[Joe Assi @JoeAssi]

Jesus appeared over the skies of England. Shortly afterwards the Foreign Secretary came out to condemn the Israeli government 🔻

@MarkAClarkson Cannon-Brookes may yet solve the housing crisis: Hire the homeless to work for Atlassian. The LITO (Live In The Office) policy kills three birds with one stone: solve homelessness, unemployment, and unwanted office space. LITO is the new WFH🔻
