@YESNetwork@RealMichaelKay@dcone36@M_Marakovits Fire your stat guy. Presenting Defensive Runs Saved is presenting a faulty opinion as a stat. Statcast has exposed how deeply flawed the eyetest is. They misrated Derek Jeter by a lot as well
@YESNetwork@dcone36@RealMichaelKay@M_Marakovits Great show last night, David! The metric, Defensive Runs Saved aren't actual runs saved. Statcast data has exposed it as a deeply flawed guesstimate at fielding value. They mismeasured Derek Jeter & created the narrative that he was a poor fielder. DRS often misses badly.
@ESPNNewYork@RealMichaelKay You're repeating a faulty opinion every time you reference DRS (Defensive Runs Saved). It's Angel Hernandez material. Stick to the legit machine-based Outs Above Average.
@mike_petriello Thanks for the info, bud. Throwing data you once posted years ago was the top & bottom outfielders in throwing mph. I was surprised Jacoby Ellsbury wasn't on the bottom w/Corey Dickerson, Dustin Ackley & Khris Davis. If I may ask & if you know, how fast did Ellsbury throw?
@mike_petriello Nut wouldn't Sunday's RBI flyball be a missed 3-star attempt? He didn't miss it by a lot. I'd doubt it was beyond 5 star & uncatchable
@mike_petriello I believe there's a glitch on Juan Soto's baseball savant page. His catch probability is still completely blank despite having a flyball land near him on Sunday
@mike_petriello The 2022 Phillies are a testament to that. They had the league's highest fielding % & great pitching yet a subpar team ERA. Atrocious OAA is what reveals why
@BJSoverYANKS @BinyaminNovets1@mike_petriello Stating ERA is nonsense is quite a polarized reach. It's mostly in the pitcher's hands, but it doesn't account for weak defense
@i_am_puddle@BinyaminNovets1@mike_petriello Not entirely superior. It strips out the luck of defense, but doesn't account for weak contact. It could mismeasure an effective sinker baller who doesn't strike the most out
