I have a working theory on being in your 20s.
Best case scenario is to fully invest. Reap the rewards of compound interest. Give yourself to a mission or cause for decades. Go all in.
(A very close) Second best case scenario is to preserve optionality. Don’t go down the wrong path. Increase your surface area for luck. Keep your options open.
As soon as you have enough conviction in 1 area of life (career, fitness, love) go all in. Different areas of your life are going to surface clarity sooner than others.
The quality of your decision making is the quality of your life.
I heard a great Nathan Cofnas quote the other day: “The philosophy establishment claims to trace its intellectual lineage to Socrates, but its true lineage goes back to those who killed him.”
No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—
Almost, at times, the Fool.
