With the growing cap and AAVs we’re seeing, $8.7m is a very reasonable number for a 2C so this would not preclude you from going out and getting a legit 1C over the next couple years. I think it just makes you better now and more attractive to a 1C that sees themselves as the missing piece to a true contender. Depending on the cost from a trade perspective, I think it’s a no brainer from a contract and team building perspective

How in the world is Minnesota a better fit? Philly needs exactly his skill set. They have a bunch of scorers with no one to set the table which is exactly what LeBron is best at. In Minny they already have Lamelo as a creator. Also, the West is very clearly a more difficult path. The two best teams in the league by a mile are in the west. The Knicks were a 50 win team that got hot for a month and would’ve never stood a chance against a healthy OKC or a more experienced Spurs team

If you go by that logic, that’s already going to happen so I’d rather have other GMs hate me with a 1C than without one. I think with Risto it’s bc he’ll be in the last year of his deal so they might lose him for nothing but I agree they can’t just let him go without replacing him with someone at that level or better

LeBron brings exactly what the Sixers need most. They have scorers but desperately need a playmaker/connector. LeBron would unlock every player on that team to be the best versions of themselves. Also, him and JB can show those other guys what it really takes to win. Mostly, imagine what it would do for LeBron’s legacy to go there and win a championship. That’s not the point. The point is comparing the average number to the Phillies starting player. I’m not disputing the average is down. Regardless, the Phillies starting right fielder has an ops of .598 compared to an average ops of starting right handed batting RFs which would be higher than .695.
