How many A&E patients wait more than 12 hours between a decision to admit them to hospital and actually being admitted?
In August 2010, NHS England recorded one case of this. Not 100, not 1,000. Just one.
Last month, that figure was 29,317.
@docrobperry@lee_georgina This is absolutely correct. Sadly, the whole flow of the health and social care system is jammed. The problems are more at the back door than the front. Hundreds of patients in most acute fit for discharge but with no onward care pathway
Excellent couple of days at #NHSConfedExpo . A great time with knowledgeable and passionate Optum colleagues. Great networking with lots of system partners. Also a highlight to watch Hilary Cottam's inspirational presentation.

@StroudCorona@gloshospitals@drfrocester@BeckyParish6 @GlosCCG @sphams Thanks James. Very stark variation in trends between community cases, g&a bed use, and DCC bed use. A very notable "uncoupling". Good news for hospitals. Let's hope the community rates keep falling.
@TownStroud @StonehouseTC@SuppStonehouse @MinchChloe @StroudDC@GlosCC @DavidEDrew 3/ We can compare recent numbers of people testing positive for 1st time, people in hospital with confirmed Covid-19, and numbers of people dying to Jan '21 peak:
Positive - Glos 223% (peak 399%), England 182% (peak 317%)
In hospital - Glos 48%, Eng 49%
Dying - Glos 11%, Eng 16%
It is with great pleasure I can tell you there are ZERO active covid patients in Intensive Care @gloshospitals
Community rates are very high and there are a significant number of cases on our wards but early signs are that vaccination IS preventing severe disease.
#getyourjab
The number of people testing positive for sars-cov-2 in #Gloucestershire reached 3.5 times the previous weekly record in the week to 3rd Jan. Weekly hospital admissions reached 63% of previous peak

@StroudCorona@SuppStonehouse@Paganhill@AidWotton@Stroud_TRCH@StroudDC @Siobhan_Baillie @doinacornell @StroudGreens @AmplifyStroud Excellent graph. I'd been planning to make the same one this week but was snowed under with other pressures. If DCC / ICU patients were on there, reckon they'd also be somewhere nearer the deaths level? Low numbers I appreciate
The best explanation I've heard of the fallacy of "CoViD is being prioritised over cancer/heart disease/etc". Someone make Chris Whitty Prime Minister 👏👏👏
"This is sometimes said by people who have no understanding of health at all... and when they say it, it's usually because they want to make a political point."
Prof. Chris Whitty responds to concerns that the NHS is prioritising Covid other serious health issues such as cancer.
6. Always important to bear in mind age profile is v different now (because of vaccination).
In week to 27 Nov, there were 2,854 cases among <60s, more than 10x number in 60+s (282).
Difference in trends suggests impact of boosters
For our big story on UK’s "booster effect" this morning, I’ve rolled out a new chart format that shows booster rollout on same plot — same lines even — as changes in cases, hospitalisations & vax efficacy
As boosters go into arms, lines turn red and then reverse 📉📈 #dataviz
