A recent adventure to a Surrey Beech woodland with @surreywallcreep where we located a staggering 5,000+ Bird’s-nest Orchid. Some of which were standing at almost knee height.
Saturdays pilgrimage to visit Martin Down NNR. Burnt Tip Orchids being the next target of the year for me. The usual colony in good shape. Further afield I managed to find my own Burnt Tips in the long grass. Plenty of Marsh Fritillary to boot.
Part 2 of my trip to the Chilterns I visited a one of a kind colony of Lady x Monkey Orchid hybrids. A beautiful Orchid with an equally beautiful landscape to match.
An incredible birding experience in Wiltshire whilst looking for Butterflies; stumbling across a juvenile Hawfinch. A species of near mythical status during the breeding season. I’ve spent countless hours searching locally for breeding Hawfinch this betters them all.
