With pride, gratitude, and a level of vulnerability I seldom share, I can say this: creating this program is one of the most important things I have ever done.
It changed me.
It is not that I have not done things that mattered before. I have. But this mattered in a way that felt deeply personal. For a long time, I had not felt that rare combination of doing something that was meaningful to me and valuable to other people.
This program gave me purpose. It reminded me that bringing people together around ideas, stories, public life, and yes, EXCITEMENT, is not just what I do. It is who I am.
More than anything, I find myself yearning to continue this work in new forms and new places. Because it had a profound impact on my life. And I hope it had an impact on the lives of those it touched as well.

When I represented Massachusetts’ 4th District, I had extraordinarily big shoes to fill.
Barney Frank was fearless, brilliant, and one of the great public servants of our time. He reminded us that politics is ultimately about what we owe one another — and he said it better than anyone: “Government is simply the name we give to the things we choose to do together.”
Grateful for his leadership, his example, and his lasting legacy.
Sending prayers to his husband, Jim.
Jason Collins was a giant in every sense of the world. He was a loyal friend, a courageous leader and a kind soul. His laugh lit the room – often more than one since it was about as subtle as his 7-foot frame. He brought a smile to so many, and those of us fortunate to know him will miss him dearly. Sending love to his family who cared for him so beautifully these past months.
So my beloved wife @laurenkennedyMA and children called into @Mix1041 this morning for #CantBeatKennedy and they tied 3-3!
Never been more proud ❤️❤️
And wondering why they waited to call until I was on a plane….
A group of dancers performed outside the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Memorial on Presidents' Day in protest of the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis. Broadway and former Kennedy Center dancers were a part of the performance, according to Playbill.
The team of dancers shared on social media that they were able to complete the full performance near the Lincoln Memorial, but were shut down by authorities outside the Kennedy Center midway through the dance.
.@BrettFavre With all due respect to one of the greatest QBs ever — I didn’t grow up knowing where the Packers played, what Lambeau Field was, or why people proudly wear cheese on their heads 🧀😄.
I watched. I learned. And now I get it.
That’s how @NFL football works. And honestly, that’s how the Super Bowl halftime show works too. It’s not about only watching what you already know — it’s about discovering what millions of your fellow Americans already love.
Bad Bunny isn’t “foreign” to the Super Bowl — he is America too 🇺🇸🇵🇷🎶. Different sounds, same country, same game.
The Super Bowl is big enough for frozen fields, cheese hats, country music… and Spanish lyrics.
That’s not losing tradition. That’s America showing how big the tent really is. 🏈❤️
And you should try Tembleque, Alcapurrias and Mofongo! Don’t be sad, be happy!
Avoided writing this column for weeks, desperately hoping something would develop and change what still looks inevitable: SCOTUS is about to allow states to gut Black and Brown representation at every level of government.
The return of Jim Crow looms.

President John F. Kennedy believed that one day this country would live up to its promise of justice and equal rights for all. For those beliefs and for his sacrifice, Congress voted to make The Kennedy Center a living memorial to him, as a place built by the people for the people to celebrate what connects us.
While this trespass on the People’s will is painful, President Kennedy would remind us that it is not buildings that define the greatness of a nation. It is the actions of its people and its leaders.
So, do not be distracted from what this Administration is actually trying to erase: our connection, our community, and our commitment to the rights of all.
Chilling to think that a guy who, by his own admission, thinks that if heaven exists he won’t be allowed in 1) is leading our country and 2) says boundary is his own moral authority And that this is just fine for a Christian Right.
As insane as this sounds, it’s true: Pam Bondi sent Minnesota officials a letter today saying ICE would leave the state if Minnesota turns over its voter files to the Trump Administration.
They’re openly using state violence as a bargaining chip to seize election infrastructure.
There is so much demanding our outrage right now. So many injustices competing for our attention. And that isn’t an accident.
The goal is to exhaust us. To make it all blur together. To make us look away.
So as we push forward, keep this image in your mind:
A five-year-old child detained by ICE in Minnesota.
Not a statistic.
Not a policy debate.
A kid.
This is what our choices look like when they land on the smallest shoulders.
And if we let ourselves stop paying attention—and stop standing up—this becomes normal.

Great to see old friends (and new governors!) at @MikieSherrill inauguration! Mikie is a proven leader, relentless advocate for New Jersey families, and a public servant who brings integrity, experience, and compassion to the work every day.

I am introducing legislation to stand up to this Administration and to remove Trump's name from the Kennedy Center. Congress must stop the "Trump branding" of our national treasures and memorials, particularly this national treasure which uplifts our national arts and commemorates a fallen president.
