@J_Koenig21 this happen to me. Initially said $850 for an appraisal. Thought that was insane. They were in and out within 10 minutes. But at settlement I got a $200 refund on it. Maybe the lenders estimate what they think it’ll be and refund the difference relative to the actual cost?

@Storage_Venture if the contract was binding then 96k is what your obligated to pay however if it was an estimate based on estimated material and whatnot then you need to pay the additional 8k or split it with him is fair. If he did good work, splitting it regardless would be a good move
