Uh, no. The rule is not: avoid conflicts of interest unless you are an extremely good man. It's: avoid conflicts of interest.
In fairness, I am also a critic of his judgment as special adviser to the prime minister on the Oliphant inquiry, which I think is pretty obviously relevant. But not only am I not a critic of his personal integrity or decency, I have a history of publicly defending both.
Among the ways wokeness is dumbing down science is replacing the foundation of linguistics (words are arbitrary conventions) with primitive word magic (words have causal powers, as in spells, curses, & prayers)....
