This afternoon I met with @NJ_Timothy (Candidate for the West Suffolk Parliamentary constituency) to discuss issues of concern to residents in Haverhill.
I look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.
What a fantastic time I had listening to the captivating Margo Harrison and Linus, her hearing dog presenting at the Hard of Hearing Group at West End Church Hall. They have now received £500 from my West Suffolk locality budget so they can continue to have meeting like this.🐕
Persimmon and West Suffolk planners have agreed to look into getting a path laid between Boyton Meadows and the new Play Park. I was emailed by a concerned resident and I was keen to raise get this sorted. No date yet for works, but at last we have an agreement to do the work.
Met with Tanya Rudkin from Boomerang's Pet Foodbank in Haverhill to see if I could help with a grant using my Cllr. locality budget. For some people facing financial difficulties, their pets are the most important thing for their mental well being. Another great local charity.
All day spent listening and questioning impressive candidates.
Huge Congrats to @NJ_Timothy for being Selected today as West Suffolk’s Conservative Candidate at the next election. Looking forward to the upcoming campaign and working with him on issues of concern to residents.
🔵WEST SUFFOLK: local Tories pick successor to Matt Hancock on Sunday. I hear 6-strong long-list includes:
Neil Hudson, Penrith & Border MP, who lost contest
as current seat merged;
Richard Rout, dep leader, Suffolk County Council;
Nick Timothy, fmr adviser to Theresa May.
What a busy day! Met with residents on the Chapple Drive Estate, followed by a Town Council Meet and Greet at the Havebury Community Day on Burton End.
The highlight was visiting the new 3G pitch currently being installed at Haverhill Community Sports Association. Fab! ⚽️
Today I visited Memories are Golden Community Hub. I must say how impressed I am with this charity. Always friendly and welcoming, so it was a pleasure to meet with the staff & volunteers, have a cup of coffee and sit a while with their 'users'.

We were shown Layout Plans for phases 4-5, info on design concepts and we were also given some updates. Check out my facebook page where more characters are allowed! https://t.co/KEWWOE3mvK
At each Full Town Council meeting I am always asked if I wish to give a report. Not all cllrs give a report, but I think it a good opportunity to share some of the info that crosses my desk. The link below is my June - July '23 report to the Town Council.

The Parish and Town Forum is an interesting meeting that happens only a few times a year. It’s a chance to hear from parish councillors across West Suffolk, as opposed to district councillors. It’s a good to hear what the the new administration wishes to share with the parishes.
Attended Equality and Diversity training at West Suffolk with Cllrs Margaret Marks and Mike Chester. Very interesting and important. Though I do not understand why it isn’t compulsory. All councillors, in my opinion, should attend these sessions.
