British politics used to work on the basis that one side would make an argument and the other side would agree or disagree with the argument on the basis of its merits. Now too often the game is to sow distrust.
That game is bad for democracy but worse – it fails you.
A brilliant Saturday morning at Snods Edge Saturday Cafe in one of the most south-easterly points of our constituency. Delicious food, wonderful company and all for an incredible cause!
It was great to meet today with representatives from League Against Cruel Sports. I fully support plans to change legislation and end inhumane hunting practices #EndHunting
@WillianWhizz I am also frequently in contact with Tyne Valley Rail Users Group and Tyne Valley Rail Community Partnership, most recently meeting with TVRCP on Saturday and welcome any input from constituents on how we can best work together to improve the TVL.
At the start of this week, I was immensely proud to watch the switching on of the lights on this year's parliamentary Christmas tree. The tree which hails from our very own Kielder Forest puts the natural beauty of our constituency at the heart of Christmas in Westminster
@WillianWhizz Thanks for your comment Willian. I'd be glad to discuss these issues further with you, feel free to drop me a message. I have brought up issues on the TVL twice in Parliament and have secured a meeting with the Rail Minister to discuss these issues next week.
As the UK's biggest killer, dementia is robbing us of everything that matters - our memories, connections and stories. I'm standing with Alzheimer's Research UK on their journey for a cure. Together, we will tackle dementia.
It is vital that we ensure there are good jobs and training opportunities for our young people right here in our constituency. Hear what I had to say about this in Parliament today 👇
Afterwards, I stopped for a warm pot of tea at the lovely Water Tower Café. Supporting local businesses like these helps our communities thrive. If you have a favourite small business you love to support, let me know in the comments - I'd love to hear all about them! 2/2
This small business Saturday I visited the workspaces at Haltwhistle Station, a fantastic hub for local businesses that was refurbished by Tyne Valley Rail Community Partnership. It is great to see affordable workspaces in our constituency to help local businesses grow. 1/2
Yesterday in Parliament, I asked the Rt Hon Pat McFadden MP to outline how this government's plan to boost police numbers and tackle crime will benefit our rural communities and towns. It is vital that people here see a change on our streets and feel safe in this constituency.
I recently met with the Marine Conservation Society in Parliament, a fantastic charity who are focused on cleaning up our oceans.
We spoke about draft legislation for a deposit return system that would encourage more people to recycle and further create a circular economy.
From raising my constituents' experiences in Parliament to meeting with the Minister for School Standards to discuss these issues, I am dedicated to seeing improved SEND education conditions in our constituency and think it is fantastic to see this Labour government taking action
It is no surprise to me that Hexham has
been named the third happiest place to live in Britain
by Rightmove, although I would personally rank it as
number one. It is wonderful to see our town and its
people being celebrated.
From the natural beauty of surrounding countryside to our strong sense of community, Hexham is an undeniably great place. I’m proud to represent a constituency that remains, from Callerton and Throckley to Gilsland and Sinderhope to Bellingham, the best place to live in the UK.
December is here🎄Last week's Christmas light switch-on in Hexham was spectacular. There is no better way to kick off the festive season than with live performances from our talented local schoolchildren and being surrounded by the people that make this constituency so special.
