@basera_john Bravo! Way to go! Food self sufficiency is the best insurance this country can ever have. It does not require a foreign bailout to achieve this.
Over the holiday season I am reading the following books:1. AI Superpowers by Kai -Fu Lee; 2. Educated by Tara Westover 3. Lifelong Kindergarten by Mitchel Resnick 4. Skin In The Game by Nassim Nicholas Taleb , and 5.The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis.
@blesarema Confidence is timid and won’t enter a house whose foundation is weak.Same for serious long term investors.Fiscal discipline is that essential foundation.Introducing currency reforms without a strong fiscal foundation is like building your house on quicksand.

Yesterday the foundation for Zim’s economic recovery was firmly put in place. This must now be secured by strong follow through. Next will come the currency reforms once the foundation has set in. Confidence & investment are next. Growth will then ensue in 12-18months.
But as everything in the financial services sector goes digital and Frictionless so will cybercrime -thus increasing risk! This means Risk Management systems will need to become more digital and agile.
Central banks will need to transform as rapidly as the banking sector itself if they are to avoid becoming a dead hand stifling innovation. Indeed Central banks will be competing with other Central banks to attract investments & remove Friction in their jurisdictions
The bank of tomorrow is not a more digitized branch. Just as a car is Not a faster horse! Retrofitting digital products onto a bank’s branch network is not the solution. The entire legacy business model needs a revamp. Go back to First Principles. What do customers want?
As AI & Machine Learning advance the Advisory role of banks will diminish & then disappear. Advisory is based on Information Asymmetry. Bankers know a bit more than ordinary clients- but not for long! With AI this asymmetry will vanish .
#Digital banking via technology companies will remove the current FRICTION caused by traditional banks as they implement KYC Procedures ( Kill Your Customer with Paperwork! Everything requiring signatures!).
Interesting insights from the Fintech conference here in Dubai today: # By 2025 more customers will have bank accounts from technology companies than from traditional banks. For traditional banks to survive they must become technology companies.
Today I am reading Brett King’s latest book on Banking “ Bank 4.0: Banking Everywhere ,Never at A Bank(2018)”. Tomorrow morning I will have the privilege of listening to him in person here in Dubai at the Financial Times Middle East Banking Conference.
While I agree with you that threats are not the best approach I am sure that you will concede the point that the marketplace can not be allowed to be an untamed jungle where the rights of consumers are trampled upon.
@JoeMutizwa @Busisa74 Industry must stop threatening people who are engaging in a rational pursuit of their self interest. Please, ko inga munozviziva kuti hazvishandi! Chiiko nhai?
There is a lot of irresponsible and opportunistic behavior in the trade. If there is no consequence then this behavior will persist. Your plan for punitive measures is commendable
URL Cooking Oil Update:We sold & delivered over 300mt (150,000 units) last week into the Bulawayo & surrounding markets. We are concerned that product is being withheld or bundled at till point. We will be blacklisting errant retailers for the next round of deliveries.
Yesterday in my leadership class with a group of managers I shared this quote from the 13th Century Jewish philosopher Moses Maimonides. He said.. “ If not for yourself who shall be for you.But if only for yourself then what are you?” Profoundly unsettling.
The President needs to do more of this across all media platforms. In times of uncertainty leaders need to intensify communication as people look up to them to interpret what is happening. Such clarity prevents mischief makers from creating unnecessary chaos & despair
As this week comes to a close, here are some thoughts on where things stand today, where we are going, and how we will get there.
Have a blessed Sunday!
