"The confidence level is still extremely high in Zacharaiah... we just have to get back to the basics with him" [with regards to techniques and returner rules]

@PlusEVAnalytics You literally said in your OP that it’s fine to “reject analytics” so long as the phrasing of the reasoning is correct (despite you being a math major!)

You misrepresent Shanahan - who has surely seen and uses tons of these kind of data on game situations.

[Joe Patrick @JoePatrick]

This account says Shanahan relying on his intuition specifically in a 51/49 modeled situation is “rejecting analytics” … speaks to the way people completely talk past each other in this debate/hypothetical.

[Plus EV Analytics @PlusEVAnalytics]

Interesting conversation,

"The analytics say 51% under some generalized assumptions but I'm not accepting it blindly because I might have more context-specific insight" is fine IMO.

"I don't get enough trials to realize the long run so I'm rejecting analytics" is not fine IMO. Classic failure to think probabilistically.

Not so fun fact: Michael Penix has only won as the starting QB at Mercedes-Benz Stadium three times.

His last win here was just over a calendar year ago on October 13, 2025 vs. the Bills on Monday Night Football.

His wins were his debut as a rookie against the Giants, plus wins over WAS and BUF last season.

Penix said Kendal Daniels was communicating with the team when he was being stretchered off and told them to go finish the game strong.
