100% agree with this. My pitch for S3 would have been an angry Mando seeking redemption and acceptance back into the Mandalorian cult for the first few episodes. When he succeeds is when he discovers what he REALLY needs is Grogu back which would be the final half of the season.
a wild thing happening on THE MANDALORIAN is how Grogu is completely and suspiciously extraneous to the plot, convincing me the asinine decision to bring him back so soon in BOBA FETT was a last-minute thing. somebody at Disney was a coward, and walked it all back. it sucks.
Can't help but think if they had held out and not jumped off the back of Boba Fett to deal with the Grogu reunion, I'd likely be far more engaged with this series.
Discussing this with a friend this week. The first episode of S3 was fine, but nothing happened in it which got me particularly excited for the rest of the season. Haven't rushed to watch the last 2 episodes even.
@NextBestPicture Definitely the type of year the academy needed after all of the drama last year. A strong leading contender in EEAAO which the film community largely stood behind as a deserving winner. No real surprises/shocks as a result, but at least it went off without any "incidents".
I love EEAAO, but no wins for Banshees or Elvis? Definitely one of those years where it was easy to predict virtually every win (Women Talking being the exception).
