NEW: American flag draped over the body of a California deputy after his patrol vehicle was split in half during a high-speed chase.

The San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy was chasing an auto theft suspect when the tragedy unfolded.

According to local reports, the deputy crashed into a bystander vehicle before the patrol car slammed into a light pole, splitting it in half.

The deputy sadly passed away at the scene.

His body was later escorted by multiple law enforcement agencies in a solemn procession to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

JUST IN: The FBI is on the scene after several Teslas were lit on fire at a Tesla service center in Las Vegas, according to LV Review-Journal.

The arson incident unfolded at 2:45 am in what appears to be a terror attack.
