Taxes are used to reduce something. Some may call it pigouvian logic.

Example: Tax cigarettes for less smoking, tax fuel to use public transportation, tax beer for less drinking etc. etc.

What happens when you tax employers? This is an incentive to reduce labor, concentration of work to automation. More taxes are collected now than ever and look how mismanaged it’s became. $40T in debt. $30+ Trillion is debt to the public. The government spends more money on social programs than the military defense and you propose an even heavier tax for some random opposed class?
