@Sams_Antics@BoredElonMusk Yeah, I don't understand the reason to connect or remain connected with people you wouldn't spit on if they were on fire. The whole original philosophy of LinkedIn, I thought, was "Hey, let's help each other if we can."
@JoeAttardi 1. Wait until the last minute. If there is no deadline, make one.
2. I ask for GenAI's ideas. They'll be terrible, but that's exactly what I want because I'm not looking to steal; I'm looking to be inspired into a good idea by the machine's bad idea.
3. Bounce ideas off a human.

This morning the Department of Homeland Security announced the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board. The 22 inaugural members include Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Jensen Huang, Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai and many others.
@SirBogarty@BoredElonMusk It's not inherently fishy. Other than the big decennial "count-'em-up", the US Census has other operations, like the American Community Survey.
That said, you can call the local field office to confirm that the Census worker is who they say they are.
@realfrugalmogul@DaveEDanna One of the most shameful things about the 21st century is the whole rigamarole with "Oh, you want your food WITHOUT poison??? That's gonna be extra. A *lot* extra."
@ArwenElessar3@CaitlinKellyNYC@MattPotter Wowsers. The choice-of-forum and indemnification clauses are NOTHING compared to that last one. Worst I've seen is can't work for a client or prospect for 6 months (which is still no-go for me).
(Also: A choice-of-law clause is DIFFERENT from a choice-of-forum clause. Just because New York law applies doesn't necessarily mean you have to litigate in New York. Choice of forum = actions "MUST BE BROUGHT IN" a jurisdiction)
*Not legal advice. I'm an internet bozo.
Freelancers, beware: Some US publishers have begun putting choice-of-forum clauses in their standard contracts, meaning that if they stiff you, your small-claims action must be litigated IN THEIR STATE (sometimes specifically IN THEIR COUNTY).
Read your contracts before signing!
Every time a publisher stiffs a freelancer we actually tell one another, even when we don’t name and shame you here. We belong to freelancer groups and organizations and share intel to make sure deadbeats suddenly find that talent is shunning their assignments. Just pay on time!
(FWIW, just because they have this clause doesn't mean they intend to stiff their contractors. But there's a difference between doing biz with a company one state away and you've known the editor 10 years, vs. a new publication 1,000 mi. away and the editors seem sus.)
If the Federal Reserve cuts rates into this red hot US stock market environment, we could see a bubble form to rival the Tech Bubble a quarter century ago, per Bloomberg.
@DaveEDanna This is all silly to me. Cereal already has a gajillion grams of HFCS. And, speaking as an Italian-American, if you know how to make good pasta sauce, you don't need sugar.
Our elem. school gym teacher told us to put sugar on our cereal on Track-and-Field Day for "extra energy."
