@theirpriestess@darkdefective Especially the absence of the guardians and the disconnect with OA. The early issues present the lanterns as a disconnected force of individuals answering to disembodied voices which I think the show does in an interesting way. Even if I don’t care the show massively
@TOAYFT@CTropes@owenlikescomics 20th century men is really fantastic and I liked his book before that maxwells demons, reads as a lex luthor coming of age book, really great — his work at the big two hasn’t been quite as good as that stuff imo
@dynasty_fleecer @LilyMarieMFC@zedchrmsm You’ve just created two fake people and reduced them down to 3 stats, that’s not really reality. And while apps incentivise a stats based approach to viewing people it’s not historically how dating has worked.
@jasen_mel power scaling (aka an internal logic about characters power and feats) is born from complex, serialised franchises and therefore people trying to make it a core part of storytelling reveal themselves as nerds
@jasen_mel that's not true though — surrealism — morality tales — myths — literary fiction — epic poems — action films — melodramas. The majority of these reject naturalistic logic to some degree (it varies). Not everything strives for logic. There's also emotion
@simonicolas22@LongArmsPerk poor internal logic is not the reason comics are often crap lol — powerscalers and (some) comic writers are more similar then you think, both need to read an actual book
@koganryuuz@FuadtheG@DanGuy96 Looks like it’s al Ewing’s ultimates run, it happens post secret wars and is about a powerful team dealing with the birth of the new universe and the new cosmic hierarchy that came from it - would recommend!
@ethancdelaney@propcomiic@jimthegiant good for what though? putting it on an app icon might be awkward but it probably only exists on the shop front — it's signage not a brand! A dry cleaners doesn't need a modern brand (infinite applications) it just needs to look appealing from the outside which it does!
@Long_shankers@OWS1892 fine its due to a rise in Neo-liberal economic policy, the counter-ubanisation of mobile high earners, decades of austerity and probably something to do with the fetishisation of the idyllic
