Our U23 team defeated Football247, a showcase side comprising of ex-professionals and scholars from Premier League and EFL clubs, 7-1 this afternoon.

Jack Stone registered a hat-trick and Joe Poxon bagged a brace, with Nikolay Zlatev and Michael Jolaosho also on target.

Today, Garon Park fell silent as we remembered our friend, colleague and supporter, Peter Miles, who did so much to champion the cause of our Academy and help us chronicle and promote the work that takes place.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of one of Southend United’s most dedicated supporters.

A passionate Shrimper, Peter Miles was a respected club historian and author who devoted countless hours to preserving the history of Southend United, helping to ensure the club’s story was documented and shared for generations of supporters.

Everyone at Southend United is incredibly grateful for Peter’s dedication and passion for the club. We extend our sincere condolences to Peter’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
