Ezekiel 1 begins with the prophet already in exile in Babylon. His homeland destroyed. His people uprooted & in enemy territory. Yet the Lord appears to Ezekiel in a powerful way. It's a good reminder that God is present and active everywhere. He does not abandon his people.

I have been debating what to say, if anything at all, about the outcome of yesterday’s vote. There are plenty of knee jerk reactions and hot takes out there. You don’t need another one from me. But here is what I keep coming back to: (1/x)

It's easy to focus on the "doom and gloom" when reading through the OT prophets. Yes, they speak about God's righteous judgement. But the prophets also point us to God's plan of salvation - not just for Israel, but for the whole world - through his Messiah. For example... (1/4)

Colossians 4:2 - “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

We often think of prayer as a last resort, a tool reserved for emergency use only. That way of thinking is backwards. Prayer is a commitment, not a convenience.

The Psalms give us words of lament and mourning in the face of terrible atrocities like what we see coming out of Israel. They also give us hope. The Lord is not deaf or blind to suffering. He is just. He will destroy evil and repay the wicked for their sins. Read & pray Psalm 94
