Not having any higher ed. before joining, I had no way to compare. It wasn't until after I graduated and left the army that it occurred to me how meaningless officer qualifications are relative to their responsibilities.

@martyrmade Yeah we did what felt like some really dumb/risky stuff to avoid wanton civilian casualties. For all of the destruction it could have been far worse but for the constant awareness of the law of land warfare, ROE, etc.

Not setting the conditions for such hatred in the first place would go along way to mitigating these attacks in the first place.

@martyrmade You mention religion in the context of the British mandate. During the 1920s Britain (and to an extent some Zionists) sought to radicalize Palestinians as a wedge to divide Arabs and insulate colonial powers. You describe dissent being tolerated only in religious terms.
