Blessed and extremely excited to say that I have signed to Lyon college. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to see what the next four years hold @LyonBaseball@LyonAthletics@coachsevier
Statcast is ruining a generation of folklore
“445ft”
Meanwhile we could have kids reminiscing 20 years from now saying “remember when Ace Reese put one on top of the trees? Yeah it went 550ft, furthest ball I’ve ever seen”
JUCO baseball is the only level where a future big leaguer, a guy on academic probation, and a 27-year-old reliever all share the same bullpen.
Gotta LOVE it
A lot of MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
The “boring” stuff wins ballgames:
-Backing up the play
-Putting the ball in play
-Moving the runner
-Making the routine plays
-Consistent communication
-Throwing strikes
-Smart baserunning
-Taking your walks
-Getting HBP, holding your ground
-Hitting a cutoff man
-Hustling out everything
*At some point, the “boring” tasks of ⚾️ will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call “boring.”
Turn the “boring” into the “important” and that’s how you win!

Back when I was coaching varsity baseball in California…
Facing a 90+ drafted arm.
We ran 5 straight suicide squeezes.
Worked 4 in a row—didn’t on the 5th.
Opposing coach: “Teach your kids to swing.”
Me: “Teach yours to defend a bunt.”
We won 4–2.
Adjust…or get beat.
The Mississippi Power Play. Takes advantage of a 2-man crew. Plate guy is watching bunt to make sure it's fair. Base umpire is moving towards 1st to get the safe/out call. No one is looking at third.
