@KellyGerMalone@mawwelch I wondered often as we were driving through the U.S. this summer how many people thought we were big fans of some obscure third-party candidate in the late ‘90s.
Hey folks -- if you have an extra $1 lying around and you'd like to see this handsome fella grace a can of beer from the good folks at Good Neighbour Brewing (or just help the Winnipeg Humane Society do the awesome work they do), follow the link to vote!

@KellyGerMalone@inayatsingh That IS an essential memory! “Hey, remember that time Jackie slept for 16 hours after his walk? That was great.” Thanks Twitter… er, X. It’s good to know this platform still does something well.
I love this entry on “trite expressions” from an old @WinnipegNews style guide in the @wag_ca exhibit. Pretty sure I’ve gently removed a few of these from copy myself.
Here’s my mom getting her Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal for a lifetime of volunteer service to @TownofMorris from @HStefansonMB and MLA Blaine Pedersen. She is not on Twitter, so I can’t @ her, so I’ll just have to tell her I’m pretty damn proud of her in person. At some point.
@heyjturner I've heard the story about the bottles too! Seems more likely to me that it was just a function of an inadequate arena and too few concertgoers at the time... but urban myths/wild conspiracies are more fun.
@heyjturner 2008 was their return to Winnipeg, I believe -- the second leg of the Snakes & Arrows tour. I went with a friend to London, Ont., to see them on the first leg, thinking "They haven't played here since '82... surely there'll be no Winnipeg date..."
Interesting read here on the latest Manitoba Marathon. Raises the good point that heat training for a mid-June race in Manitoba is a particular challenge. https://t.co/lxCxLsmODQ
2/4: Also interviewed playwright S. E. Grummett, AKA Grumms, about their play about coming out as trans — as told through the gender journey of a squid monster, now being performed at Winnipeg Fringe Festival

“It's the friendliest fringe, for sure.” @caitlyngowriluk and some of our @CBCManitoba colleagues talked to performers and organizers about this year’s #wpgfrnge. https://t.co/CR4dSrGPku
“Bat Brains” has all the weird and heart you could want in a #WpgFringe show. Truly unclassifiable/indescribable — but let’s say “vampiric Ed Grimley in the throes of a breakdown/acid trip.” Bizarre and hilarious and touching. Highly recommend it. https://t.co/XaBmYmXANw
