AAC narrative review continues...the cognitive load AAC use imposes on kids is huge: they first need to connect the graphic symbol to a meaning, then use the symbol to formulate a message, then remember where the icon is located, and finally access the icon. Phew!
Still doing a narrative review on AAC interventions. Interesting learning from today's search - children with CCN make similar morphological and syntactical errors on their AAC as language disordered speaking children. But, of course, some errors are completely different.
Boosting this story not just because it's #CerebralPalsyAwarenessMonth but because these are challenges people w/CP and other disabilities face every single day.
