Yesterday I was compiling a mobile application that I'm building and it took 5> minutes on Windows on a high-end PC. The build took so long that I bought a Mac mini M4 before it was finished.

Development on Windows is getting worse with time, we desperately need WSL1.0 back.

Great move by the SO team.

This will probably require a fundamental shift in the incentives for people answering questions, as users consuming them through models won't earn them 'upvotes' and their answers being sold without a revenue split definitely doesn't help.

Moving from C# to Java/Python years ago I was taken aback by how much better it was to write async code in C# back then.

Not only was it the first one to implement async/await, it was also years ahead in ecosystem support, all major libraries had support for it.
