@NYTGames Nebulae are pre-stars, not has-beens. And don't give me that "interstellar dust is all technically from a previous star" nonsense. You're better than that.
@GoogleForEdu Directed Research. HS Ss need to face open-ended challenges, and find solutions where there are no answers yet. While the majority are not ready for true independent research, pair them with a teacher who guides their inquiry and hold them to deadlines. This requires time & $ tho
This rollercoaster that parents under 5 (including me) are forced to ride is an absolute, unacceptable disaster. Pfizer and the FDA need to get it together so the public knows what the f is going on (and why) so we can continue to be confident in this process.
An actual sensible framework for managing the future of SARS-CoV-2 from @dr_kkjetelina
Integral to the framework's feasibility is the inclusion of community-level action (ventilation, rapid testing, vaccination, anti-disinformation)

Students designing an experiment to measure changes in the subjective passage of time by certain stimuli. Found a fun little website that makes the logistics of collecting data much less of a hassle! #statschat https://t.co/vqLg5dEt27
How do you develop students' intuition of probability? You can develop a 1:2 gut check by having them flip 100 coins and counting the heads, and 1:6 by rolling 100 die and counting 2's. What are other common, everyday "probability markers" - 1:20, 1:100, 1:500, 1:1000? #statschat
If you haven't subscribed to YLE before now, it's not too late - a prime source of substantive, straight-talking, and (kind of) hopeful outlooks. https://t.co/bJLMKT4H3V
More reflection on my #statschat complaint about dividing a class by gender led me to some better ways to divide a class:
1) First / Last Name (A-M)/(N-Z)
2) Favorite Food - Savory or Sweet?
3) Eagles Fans vs. People Who Are Happy
I'm sure there are others - it's not that hard!
First year teaching HS Stats and beyond frustrated with the near-universal references to the "categorical" variable of gender (M/F only) or class labs run by dividing by gender. Abt. 15% of my class is trans - it's 2022, can we start with acknowledging their existence? #StatsChat
