@maitlis I have always imagined that the American gentleman who posts flurries of tweets etc (you know the one) does so while on the throne (pun not so much intended as splendid!). Good job cottoning on and broadcasting the idea 👏👍😆
#BBCNFL Brady, Brees, Peyton Manning, Marino, Favre, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Stafford?!
Didn’t look it up (as you will clearly know if I got any wrong!)
John 🧀 in Exeter, Devon
@griffiths_bill5@ugomonye Isn’t that a bit like applauding the “bravery” of a matador in a bullfight? Uncomfortable analogy? Yeah? Yeah. You know what - how about you just let the bull and the matador sort it out between themselves, one-on-one, no weapons or assistance.
Sound ok?
A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD?!
@ugomonye Listening to the BBC Radio Wales commentary via BBC Sport website, THEY sounded surprised that a Wales player was let off with “yet another final warning” in the pivotal last few minutes. That’s all I know. But I know what I make of it. Infuriating?
@nedboulting If the regular horn sounds like this 😤 , but the bike toot button sounds like this 💁 , then it’s not an awful idea….? I’d use it mainly to pip pip at pedestrians I recognise without giving them a coronary!?!
@DanHanzus re: the BRIDGET episode - anyone suggested you guys apply for a star on the Walk of Fame for “Chris Wesseling - Around the NFL Podcast”?
(May not have been something he’d relish for himself, but I think he’d take one for the team to elevate you all by association!?!)
@AroundTheNFL Team of ATL 2022 @Lions : from beginning of November, this team finished out the season with an 8-2 record including a 5-0 sweep of the NFC North. Look out 2023 I reckon!
@JoJoFromJerz My first thought was Tomorrow Never Knows. But with stakes that high you’ve probably got to aim for a universal crowd-pleaser, so go with Uptown Funk. And before any of you groan, YOU may have heard it 1000 times, but these be FRESH ALIEN EARS. Good luck with it :)
@emmamrevell and people choosing to stay at work late or get home on time rather than wazzing around London on the tube on a weeknight in a cold snap during an energy crisis does not sound unwise or unproductive to me…
@emmamrevell If you want a vibrant economy you need a healthy population. If you want a healthy population you need an adequately staffed health service. If you want to recruit staff you need competitive pay rates. Real terms pay cuts will send current and future staff elsewhere.

This morning on @BBCr4today Stephen Powis MD of NHSE reminded us that 11% of NHS posts are unfilled. Imagine a football team starting every match with 10 players. Still a game of football, sure. Would they ever win? Would their players stay?!

To anyone alarmed by the prospect of too few nurses at work in the UK today:
There are too few NHS nurses at work EVERY day.
If nurses continue to be paid less than they deserve, this will get WORSE; more will burn out, retire, leave, & indeed decide not to train.
The most important thing in ICU is not the ventilator or the drugs. It is the care of a skilled and dedicated nurse. They are what makes the biggest difference.

@karenmoore1365@MrMichaelSpicer I wrote something similar yday myself. But if you listen closely, Mr MS is closer to sharing your view than you seem to think. Because the people he is really sending up are all the Conservative MPs bleating off/on/off-the-record about how awful she is… And they deserve it, non?
