Malden natives Anthony and Louis Maglione didn't like public TV... they loved it. So much so, that all of the $6 million in savings they accrued through blue-chip stock investments is being donated posthumously to @GBH. It is the largest unrestricted gift in our 71-year history.
This is a wonderful story of the powerful connection public media has on its audience. A heartfelt contribution to enriching our community. @GBHNews@NPR
I really don't have a lot of words!
Thank you to @public_lee & @GBHNews for this opp to increase our voice & impact.

Another thought for my layoff 🧵
Jobs are jobs; people are people. The lines between the two can be blurred to varying degrees, but people are still people when jobs end. There’s income, employment, career. There’s passion, purpose, there’s … life.
Remember to BREATHE.
@ruslodi@mhphousing@metrowestdaily@clarkziegler Rus. You’ve impacted so may lives in your roles in steering housing initiatives and leading newsrooms. Congratulations on an amazing run. Enjoy what’s next. You’ve earned it!
Great to be co-facilitating with @betterwphoebe and @leonorayala76 for our session The 3 R's of Job Loss, Recover, Restore, Return at this years @newsproduct Summit 2023. https://t.co/KdhXlT1udq
I'm so excited to be presenting at the News Product Summit with my friends @JohnDavidow and @leonorayala76 on how to cope with and bounce back from layoffs.
The Summit programming is robust, comprehensive, and super actionable. I'm honored to take part.
Thanks @priskaneely for sharing your thoughts. One other piece of advice. Being laid off as a journalist, particularly these days, is not a reflection of who you are or what you're capable of. It's a reflection of a failed business model that is a threat to our democracy.
Ten years ago today (!), I was laid off for the first time when NPR canceled Talk of the Nation. It’s an anniversary that was on my mind already, but really hits different against the backdrop of this current wave of cuts in public radio.
Thank you @aaja ED @naomitu44 for reminding us equitable coverage of the AAPI community remains elusive two years after the Atlanta shootings in this @Poynter op-ed

“Given the transformative role that @Twitter has had globally, any assessment of its impact must center international conversations in order to avoid the persistent and systematic underrepresentation of important, diverse narratives.”-@theodoraskeadas
