#isitok that we send football and rugby players off the pitch if they get the slightest knock for fear of head injury, but we still pay ยฃmillions to boxers to deliberately try to knock out their opponents?
@TheLastLeg#isitok that my first car manual showed how to adjust the engine timing, but the most recent one just advises not to drink the battery fluid. Just how stupid are people.....
@Hermesparcels @kategreeneditor You'll be lucky. It's impossible to talk to anyone, you just get fobbed off and told to message them, or check the website. Dreadful company, dreadful website. #NeverAgain I wish you luck, but don't hold your breath.
can you make a program on pensions at some stage? , what to do with a lump sum in a pension pot? is it worth defering the state pension?, that sort of stuff. thank you, #martinlewis
@99Cando@MartinSLewis BUT - they don't pay a penny back until they earn over ยฃ27k (approx). All they pay at the time is living expenses and some of that is assisted for low income families - they would presumably have to pay some living expenses anyway whether they go to uni or not!
@99Cando@MartinSLewis The MPs didn't have the balls to introduce a graduate tax for everyone, so they have effectively done it subversively by calling it a loan. For new graduates, it's the same thing :-( The irony is that those doing a "proper" degree probably earn more so pay more tax anyway.
@99Cando@MartinSLewis I'll try - you pay it when you reach a certain salary level, just like income tax. It applies to recent graduates - therefore, for them, it's just LIKE another tax. Given they will probably never pay it off (as it grows at 5.5% a year) it doesn't matter how big the "loan" gets.
@MartinSLewis Hi, brilliant well done. Hope it explains that most students will NEVER pay off the "student loan" , because it is a GRADUATE TAX. They will pay it till they are about 55 IF AND ONLY IF they earn enough to pay tax...... because in effect it is a tax, not a loan.
@99Cando@MartinSLewis Hi, it's in effect a tax because it works exactly like a tax. When your salary reaches a certain level, you pay 9% on anything more. (just like the higher rate tax band).
#MartinLewis can you explain that the student loan is just a graduate tax, and most people will pay very little, and almost nobody will ever pay it off. They called it a loan because politicians don't have the balls to call it a tax.
@Hermesparcels But your customer care is useless. No way to talk to anyone, no email address, the digital assistant just tells you to look at the website, the website says ask the digital assistant. Worst system ever #useless#pointless So UNIMPRESSED :-(
@TheLittlePK @Hermesparcels Agreed. The website and digital assistant are useless. Hermes, get a phone number and a an email address. TALK to your customers. Sending a message of "query resolved" when the parcel hasn't arrive REALLY ANNOYS PEOPLE. #uselsss
