@GCraughwell And I assure you, if/when this is debated in the Dail, the veterans will let them know how they have been treated: bullied, had their private letters published on SM, threatened etc - worse than '61-shame on this author & shame on every politician still denying veterans the truth
@GCraughwell & when you describe the independent report as flawed - do you not accept 21 eye witness submissions, 104 family & expert testimonies, 147 of 156 personal files & all military logs, comms & all available evidence? The veterans (e.g. my 81yo father) hail the IRG report as the truth
@GCraughwell By usual suspects - do you mean the veterans of #Jadotville & their families? - who would regard this letter as disgusting, uninformed & written by someone with seemingly no knowledge or just wilful ignorance of eye-witness accounts & all available evidence in the IRG report
This is a truly disgusting, uninformed & offensive letter written by someone who wasn't in #Jadotville & seemingly has read none of the evidence. Such ignorance is offensive to all vets of Jadotville incl my father-anyone interested in the truth pls read

@GCraughwell@TJH19571@fionnulamac@gardainfo@defenceforces@rte The #jadotville vets have been awarded the military medal for "Leadership, courage, bravery & professional performance" & most believe that your false claim that they havnt been honoured belittles them unfairly & the honour they have received
4 DSMs also awarded +1 recomd by IRG
@_IDFOC@ARCOIreland Has Cmdt Ray Cawley even read the evidence so meticulously set out in the iRG report? What right has he to use #Jadotville & the good name of surviving vets like my father who respect the testimonies of all Jad vets, due process and all available military records- he has no right
@_IDFOC@ARCOIreland Letters like this have their own agenda but a false narrative of #Jadotville I.e. inflated numbers/enemy killed, & medal recommendations that were not made were proven false. The truth of Jadotville is available in IRG report, pls respect the evidence as vast majority of vets do
@_IDFOC@ARCOIreland What a disgraceful letter. The vast majority of surviving #Jadotville Vets are fully supportive of what the Irish DF has done for them, the evidence gathered & truth being told by the IRG & being honoured with An Bonn Jadotville medal. Pls have more respect 4 #Jadotville vets 1/2
@GCraughwell@waynefloyd71@defenceforces The command issues included those in communication from Jadotville but scapegoating/belittling/impugning CoS, defenceforces, the IRG, #Jadotville vets to pursue claims that are refuted by evidence is more of an injustice to surviving Jad vets than they endured when they came home
@GCraughwell@waynefloyd71@defenceforces Whilst there were command issues at #Jadotville, the 19 recommendations of the IRG address these but does not change the fact that there were just 5 medals recs (but not submitted by Quinlan) by officers in 62, rest were commendations promos etc & 6 medal recs in 65 - 3 awarded
@Markcyclist@ConorHogarty@irishexaminer ...and I think you will find that many of those in short pants at the time have inflated, falsified & lionised the #Jadotville narrative against the wishes of the actual Jadotville veterans to capitalise on its high profile purely for their own benefit. Shame on them
@Markcyclist@ConorHogarty@irishexaminer If you have read the evidenced based report, it lists all the available evidence which ofcourse includes contributions from those who weren't there but most importantly their relatives were. It is historically accurate & legally sound & most #Jadotville vets entirely support it
@Markcyclist@ConorHogarty@irishexaminer There were 125 submissions - most surviving #Jadotville Vets contributed along with younger family members of deceased (who also deserved/must be heard). These accounts & all military, officer notes & archive records were listed as evidence by the IRG to finally tell the truth
@GCraughwell@defenceforces The vast majority of #Jadotville vets think this campaign's claims which was not supported by evidence nor their own eye witness accounts treats them worse than when they arrived home in 1961. They feel bullied, belittled & shamed by it - shame on those who continue to do this
@GCraughwell@defenceforces Probably an oversight, but the vast majority of surviving #Jadotville vets appreciate everything the defence forces have done for them incl the award of the An Bonn Jadotville. They respect the evidence & truth set out in the IRG report & they have no respect for those that dont
@ConorHogarty@irishexaminer Most surviving #Jadotville vets applaud the defence forces for the enormous recognition they have received including a military medal for leadership courage bravery & professional performance. Those that falsely use Jadotville to criticise defence forces DO NOT represent them
@GCraughwell@defenceforces The whole IRG did a remarkable job and resolutely stuck to the evidence. Most Jadotville vets were aghast they had been so badly mislead beforehand and sincerely thank all of IRG and its chairman in particular for finally telling the truth despite pressure & intimidation not to
@GCraughwell@defenceforces The IRG report was accepted by the vast majority of vets, legal experts, historians. If the evidence based report is not accepted by the seanad - shame on them but no other victim of anything should ever come forward again if politicians treat them like they have #Jadotville vets
