Just because we get used to a problem doesn’t mean it stopped being one.
Workarounds don’t make the cost disappear.
If the system’s broken, you’re paying for it somewhere.

Exit interviews are like an autopsy.
They tell you what went wrong, but only after it’s too late.
The symptoms of disengagement show up long before people leave. Frustration. Apathy. Silence.
Leaders who miss the diagnosis end up doing a postmortem instead of finding a cure.
Meeting tip...
Leave a few minutes at the end and ask this question:
“What’s one thing slowing you down right now?”
You’ll probably hear things that never made the agenda.

A toxic high performer costs more than they’re worth. They hit targets but crush morale.
Tolerating it tells everyone else they don’t matter.

How I build rapport with patients as a hospitalist? Remember, patients aren’t meeting us on their best days. They're sick, scared, vulnerable. Maybe blindsided.
Acknowledge that. Show you’re on their side.
Patients respond to that.

Doctors may feel documentation is screentime that takes them from patient care. Execs see it as vital to risk scores, quality, & revenue. To work, it's got to be efficient for doctors & complete enough to keep hospitals afloat.

@LeilaHormozi Exactly why I've found it important to be authentic during the interview and hiring process. If you're not, they will find out soon enough.
My advice for new leaders: listen first, talk last.
When others go first, they speak more freely.
You might be surprised what you learn.

Why is every meeting 30 or 60 minutes?
Not because it needs to be. It's the default calendar slot. We turn short conversations into long ones & still need to “circle back.” Schedule the time it really takes. 20 min, 10, 5.
15 minutes of focus beats 60 of fatigue.

A meeting where nobody speaks up can look efficient. But why is everyone quiet? Agreement, boredom, apathy? Maybe they’re distracted by work, maybe they don’t feel safe, or maybe they’re just thinking.
Silence is data. What is it telling you?
