Eli Heidenreich grew up in Pittsburgh dreaming about the Steelers.

Then he took a very different road to get there.

• Naval Academy graduate
• Commissioned Marine Corps officer
• 7th-round pick — No. 230 overall
• Steelers’ final pick of the draft

He entered camp with no guarantees and plenty of people projecting him for the practice squad.

Then he went to work.

In his final preseason game, he scored a touchdown, stood in the end zone and saluted.

Days later, the hometown kid officially made the Steelers’ 53-man roster.

From Navy blue and gold to Marine dress blues to black and gold.

Yeah … this is one of those stories you root like hell for. 🇺🇸

Hanna Born was 3 years old and in the Pentagon's day care center on 9/11/2001. She later attended the Air Force Academy and is now with the 23rd Flying Training Squadron at Ft. Rucker.

Born began a 2,977 mile run on 11 September 2025. One mile for each victim. She will complete the run on 11 September 2026. She will have averaged 8.2 miles per day.

THE GWOT SHOWER TRAILER: WHERE CLEANLINESS WAS A COMBAT SPORT

GWOT veterans know there was absolutely NO GUARANTEE that taking a shower would improve their situation.

You grabbed your towel, shower shoes, and weapon and headed over, knowing you were about to roll the dice:

🚿 Option 1: Hot water.
You hit the deployment lottery. Don’t tell anybody.

🥶 Option 2: Water straight from an Afghan mountain glacier somehow.

🔥 Option 3: Approximately 900°F.
There was no “warm.” You just kept moving in and out of the stream like you were clearing a room.

💀 Option 4: The shower shocked you. Nothing wakes you up like grabbing the metal faucet and getting 110 volts of freedom through your naked body.

🚫 Option 5: No water.
Of course, you discovered this AFTER getting completely naked.

🟤 Option 6: The water came out a color that water absolutely should not be.

And depending on where you were…

You might be walking 200 meters to the shower wearing:
