Man, this one is for all my OG GWOT veterans from OIF 1.
I remember our gunners, just like the one in the picture below, rolling down the road with no armor or anything, just soft skin.
Quick combat story: I was with the A Co 2-325th Airborne Infantry Regiment in the Battle of As Samawah in April 2003. Our task was to seize these key bridges on the Euphrates River. Well, as we approached the bridge, I was in the second fire team to reach the first bridge. We came under intense small arms, heavy machine gun, mortar, and RPG fire. It was a damn near ambush on our unit.
We had our Delta company (mounted company) with us. These guys had their truck shot to hell, tires flat, and let me tell you something. I saw bravery at its finest with those young gunners sitting up there engaging targets with no armor and exposing themselves to hell. It was incredible to see. They showed no hesitation or cowardice, just pure willingness to fight and return fire for their buddies that were pinned down, receiving everything thrown at them besides the kitchen sink.
It was something I will never forget.

If you know, you know. π
Before fancy gyms, fitness trackers, the Army had THIS.
A giant ball. Two teams. Almost no rules. And apparently zero concern for personal safety.
Old-school Army PT was basically:
βGet that damn ball to the other side.β
Meanwhile, somebodyβs getting crushed underneath 20 Soldiers and still expected to make first formation tomorrow morning.
Who remembers doing this, and what did YOUR unit call it? ππΊπΈ

π¨ JUST IN: In a truly incredible moment, SecWar Pete Hegseth just PERSONALLY gave upgraded valor awards to US Marines who were DOWNGRADED by the Biden admin after they ran into danger in the 2021 Abbey Gate bombings
Biden tried HIDING his failure by throwing THEM under the bus.
Hegseth just gave them what theyβre OWED πΊπΈ
God bless these patriots who ran TOWARD danger ππ»
Good morning!
Five years ago today, August 26, 2021, a suicide bomber struck Abbey Gate at HKIA in Kabul, Afghanistan, during the final days of the U.S. withdrawal.
We lost 13 American service members that day. π

Whatever your thoughts are about how Afghanistan ended, these 13 Americans were standing their post and carrying out their mission when they were killed.
Today isn't about politics.
It's about remembering their names.
If you served during the Afghanistan withdrawal, were at HKIA, or knew one of the 13, we invite you to share what you remember in the comments.
π―οΈ Say their names! Tell their stories. Never forgotten.
This one is incredibly tough for Christopher Rowe and I. Our soldiers (4-31 Infantry Battalion "Polar Bears") stood shoulder to shoulder with those 13 before that horrible day. Our guys will never forget, and some are struggling with it.

Good morning, y'all!
Who served in the Diyala River Valley in Iraq from '06 to '08? I would love to hear your perspective on that deadly place, what unit you served with, and where.
I bet the stories coming out of that place are incredible and need to be told.

Look, please check out our latest video about Task Force Falcon with Kevin Spooner and James Downing. The video below is a brief look at the unit.
It is an episode that truly means a lot to me and @DropzoneBrief since we served in that Task Force.
Please support us on all social media, as our mission is to tell the controversial side of almost 20 years of combat from Wanat to Fallujah, Mosul, and HKIA.
By the way, that man in the beginning is our PA, and he carried a shotgun. π¬
We are on all social media @Boots_N_Chutes
Alright yβall, I know not everyone uses YouTube for podcasts, so I need you to head over to Apple Podcasts and Spotify to hear the latest episode in our Battlefield Discussion series on Task Force Falcon.
